It is HIGH TIME

Now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. Rom 13:11-14(NKJV)

I need to ask myself….am I asleep? Maybe I don’t think so…but maybe I am….In a dream…a phantom Christian life I’m living….Paul says to all of us. WAKE UP!!! it is high time to wake out of sleep! The longer we are in Christ the more we need to have grown. Imagine getting up in the morning and you never totally wake up. imagine if you spend the whole day, eyes half closed with a Sunday afternoon drowse. You would miss about half of what people tell you. If you receive a command you’ll only understand half, or maybe get the concept up side down….We can turn into that, deep in our souls. We’re so sleepy, numbed by distractions…we forget about all the fruits of the Spirit because we’ve become so satisfied and almost enchanted with the low expectations of this culture….The end of the passage gives and awesome statement, “Put on the Lord Jesus Christ”…Ya’ll ever thought of that?….when “Joe” puts on a clown costume for a show…what happens? Joe stays behind. his likings. his dreams…his motives. his actions….he now talks, acts, moves, LIVES, like a clown…..We have to put on The Lord Jesus Christ, yall. Everyday. People out there say, live, love, laugh….ok…Well, we need to Live like Jesus, LOVE like Jesus, LAUGH like Jesus. It’s a whole new outfit. A transformation by the renewing of the mind….because we are not of this world. The passage gets specific at the end…like a finishing touch.. “-and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts”…..I’ve said sometimes in the past… “if only Jesus were here…” well, He is…He lives in every soul that is humble and broken before God, ready, at Command: wake up! it is high time!!!!!!
